Consignment Policy

Hens & Chick's success is based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. We strive to meet and exceed the expectations of our shoppers and our consignors. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.

We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the consignment industry!

Hens & Chicks is always accepting new consignors! Everyone is bringing in wonderful items and we are so excited to show them to you! In order to have time to get these wonderful items out for you all to see, we need to limit our accepting periods. Generally, we will set one week per month in which we accept clothing. Please check our consignment calendar for our upcoming accepting week. The exception is for baby equipment, children's toys and books, which we will gladly accept any time. During an "accepting week", feel free to come in with your items, no appointment is necessary. Occasionally, if especially busy, we will ask you to come back later in the day for any items that we do not feel would sell well in the store. Otherwise, expect to wait while we look through your items.

Consignors receive 40% of the sale price for all items. Credit may be used in the store, or we will gladly write a check for the amount of credit due at any point after the sale. Children's clothing, books, toys & equipment are accepted for the season with periodic markdowns; Women's and Men's clothing is on the racks for about 10 weeks, after which point anything remaining will be donated. Items will be donated to either The Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, NELCWITT, local shelters, DYCS, Survival Center or other charity.

ALL CLOTHES, TOYS & EQUIPMENT MUST BE FRESHLY WASHED, IN SEASON, AND IN SELL-ABLE CONDITION. HENS & CHICKS WILL NOT ACCEPT CLOTHING WITH STAINS, RIPS, MISSING BUTTONS, BROKEN ZIPPERS, MOLD or CIGARETTE SMOKE.

* It is required that consignors bring in items in laundry baskets, reusable bags or plastic bins (as opposed to stuffed in trash bags!). Please LIMIT baskets to TWO. Items must be washed and neatly folded before bringing them in for consignment.

Toys & equipment must be clean (wiped down ahead of time), intact, with no missing pieces and WORKING BATTERIES where applicable. Please check games and puzzles for all pieces before bringing them in.

Spring/Summer clothing is accepted Jan-June (During accepting weeks only, please check consignment calendar)

Fall/Winter clothing is accepted June-Jan. (During accepting weeks only, please check consignment calendar)

Baby equipment, toys, jewelry, and children's books will always be accepted (by appointment).
